From the beginning of time astronomy has fascinated people throughout the world and has led to many discoveries about the history of the Universe and our place within it. Scitech and Lotterywest have come together to take astronomy to the people, providing viewing nights to several regional towns with high quality telescopes. These events aim to engage the public in the wonders of the Universe, and encourage family participation in astronomy.
Scitech's resident astronomer Peter Birch will host the Lotterywest-Scitech Big 'Scope Viewing Nights and provide advice on how people can do their own viewing at home and how to get involved in astronomy in the future. High quality telescopes will be used to view celestial objects which will be followed by discussions about what has been seen and what else is out there to see.
