Due to its low population density, Western Australia is one of the most radio-quiet places on Earth. Because of this, sites within Western Australia are being considered as potential sites for a number of next-generation radio telescopes.

By the end of 2006 WA will know the outcome of a bid to host the site for the world’s largest and most advance radio telescope – the Square Kilometre Array.

Regardless of the outcome of the bid, the proposed SKA site at Mileura site will become Australia’s premier radio astronomy observatories.
