A busy opening period has seen the welcoming of 3000 founding members and significant activity including contributions by acknowledged “power” members who have already exceeded 100,000 credits.

theSkyNet has been utilised as a source finder, testing the Duchamp source finding algorithm. HIPASS data and simulated ASKAP data have been processed by theSkyNet enabling scientists to compare results so as to determine the best option for the use of the Duchamp source finder. These comparisons have been made possible through contributions by theSkyNet members and the findings will have implications for astronomers who will conduct surveys using ASKAP.

As an acknowledgement to theSkyNet founding members, certificates will be sent out and plans to recognise newer members are also in the works.

The first three months for theSkynet seems to have gone well and produced positive results and the team remain open to suggestions and comments through forums, twitter and email.

Congratulations on the first quarter and we look forward to the next update.
