The grant application process for National Science Week 2012 is now open.
National Science Week aims to reach as many Australians as possible each year with a positive message about the impact that science has on our lives, our economy, our society and our world.
The initiative runs for ten days in August each year. It is Australia’s major national celebration of science. It provides an opportunity for the entire science community to celebrate and showcase science to the Australian public and the world.
The program web site at www.scienceweek.gov.au provides information on the diverse events, activities and partnerships that form National Science Week each year.
National Science Week events illustrate fascinating areas of knowledge awaiting exploration by those who continue to study science, and demonstrate applications of science, engineering, technology and mathematics in many different fields.
There is evidence that science presentations and events, particularly those involving hands-on activity, have a lasting impact on perceptions of science and its applications.
The career opportunities available to those who continue to study science and mathematics are remarkable, and the number is growing. Many National Science Week events offer a window into such careers.
