Experience the wonders of space and ponder the big questions about our Universe at Horizon - the Planetarium. Sit back as our presenter leads you on a tour of the stars, planets and current astronomical events in the night sky, followed by an amazing live journey into space. The mind-blowing visuals will immerse you in the wonders of our Universe.
Horizon – The Planetarium is a state-of-the-art planetarium, screening extraordinary journeys into space daily. Planetarium shows are digitally projected onto an 18m domed screen, and accompanied by background music and narration: making each show a complete multi-media experience.
Horizon offers a variety of entertaining and educational presentations on a range of astronomy and space science topics. Horizon's unique blend of art and science encourages people to explore and investigate some of the biggest questions in our Universe.
Each Horizon planetarium show is accompanied by HorizonLive!; a presenter-led tour through the Perth night sky.
Horizon also provides teacher resource packs, as part of school visits, which contains a range of activities related to the visit. All of these components have been designed to link in with the Curriculum Framework, through learning outcomes and relevant space and science learning areas. There is additional supporting material and ideas for pre-and post-visit activities are available online. (As a bonus, visits to Horizon meet the Department of Education and Training’s excursion requirements.)
Along with our general presentations and school visits, Horizon offers a range of other programs throughout the year that enable the public to learn about the latest advances in astronomy and space exploration in greater depth. Lectures are offered on a regular basis and aim to deliver the latest information regarding any new discoveries or advances in what we know about the universe around us. Presentations can also be modified to suit a specific audience or event.
